due to the nature of the design of LED rings in certain OEM BMW headlights (E90 LCI, E92, E93, . . . ) i have experimentally done some work and it looks like the best light output is attained when a HID xenon bulb is used. the halogen H8 bulb is 35W so the maximum power rated HID bulb i would use is 35W.

most customers have purchased the LED bulb for this application simply because they wanted to change the colour from yellow to white. there are no 35W led bulbs out there so you can never match the brightness of halogen with the 6W led replacement. however, the xenon brightness at 35W far exceeds that of 35w halogen. the xenon will give you the brightness and the colour you want.

as for the heat dissipation: some people believe that the 35W xenon is much hotter than the 35w halogen and that this would cause the plastic ring or housing to melt. if you agree that energy cannot be created or destroyed (this is the law of conservation of energy) and it is a fact that xenon light is brighter than halogen light then you should believe that more energy is converted into light energy than heat energy for the xenon as apposed to lesser light and higher heat for the halogen. HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE!!!

SO WHO WANTS TO ORDER A SET FOR R550?

:)
There are so many threads on light for rings. So on a 2011 320d e90 lci with normal halogen lights, will the h8 hid work? Are the just normal hid lights ?
