That is the diesel 6 cylinder.

From a 640d for example.

Correct!
Same engine used in the 335d and 535d

Max power 230kw
Torque 630nm

5,6 litres combined consumption!

The diesel engines are looking more like normal petrol engines, i wonder if the noise has been reduced.

New picture up soon! Hint - think direction!

That is active steering on the cars, at low speed the wheels turn more with less input and at high speed the wheels turn less with more input. And the rear wheels are also turning, think they had this on some experimental 7 series somewhere.

Nope - not active steering. I have that on my 2006 E60.

Unless they changed the way it works today.

I think it was Honda had this feature many moons ago on the old Prelude. Mazda also played around with it before.

Legacy is on a roll today

Its active steering

Active steering is a type of power electric variable gear ratio power steering technology introduced by BMW in 2003 first appearing on the redesigned 5-series which varies the degree that the wheels turn in response to the steering wheel. At lower speeds, this technology reduces the amount that the steering wheel must be turned – improving performance in situations such as parking and other urban area traffic maneuvers. At higher speeds, the performance is such that the normal increased responsiveness from speed is avoided and it provides improved directional stability

Ok now the last picture for the day which will be up later, involves the element of speed!
