Grinding noise on a diff when driving....

Hey cousins

I have a 2002 E46 which is 318i modell it makes unbeareble grinding diff noise,my issue is is im not sure if its the worn and tear or just the fluid as the previous owner said he replaced the fluid. Please help me cousins.

I will be lookimg tomorrow at the sametime im tjinking of getting to Midas amd buy diff oil once,just i aint sure wjich one is best.

You scaring the hell out of me...i just got the car....howmuch approximately are we looking at to change into a new diff.
