Hi Fanatics

this morning i decided to check the oil level in my motor and it was way to high, the car had an oil change last week.

even more alarming than the overfill was the color of the oil it was black/ dark golden brown with what i can describe as a grayish film over it.

also noticed when the agents did a oil change on my car the oil level was also above max?

has any one had the same experience with grayish oil on the dip stick? :dunno:, car is running fine.

IMHO...Greyish oil is indicative of water mixing into the oil, and most likely culprit is a leaking cylinder head gasket.

many years ago I owned a 1972 Mercedes 230, and the cylinder head got warped due to overheating, the gasket didn't seat properly, causing water to leak passed the gasket into the oil chanels, oil went to a light grey colour and the dipstick also showed "way" over-full due to the addition of the water.

so your symptoms of over-full and greyish oil seem to be signs of a warped and leaking cylinder head gasket....sorry sounds like your'e in for some big repairs

Is it using water? I have to agree with romeo E.T. doesn't sound good. Water in the oil will soon hamper its ability to do its job aswell.
