Got me an X6M...

You don't even need a cult to save up car-level money. This isn't QikNish buying something really insane like an Aventador... though even if it was the case it is off-side to make comments like that!

You don't even have to be rich or a business person. You just don't have to constantly be keeping up with other people. There are many salaried middle class people driving sensible things for 5 or 10 years and then suddenly getting their dream Porsche or M or AMG or even Ferraris etc... don't be the asshole that judges them for that while having thrown many more times that money down the toilet on financed cars.

I work with a lot of people... they are funny creatures. People won't have the self control to save up for some luxury or passion they have... but will gladly spend 50% more to finance it "Because it is only 10K a month" or (and I love this) "If I have the money in an account/bond/wherever, then I will be tempted to spend it".

Since we are making assumptions: the same people are out in droves for Residual discussions telling everyone they are 'smart', what rich people do and they know all about asset depreciation, the 'right time to trade'...wanting to mod but terrified of losing their plan (and not able or willing to spend on OEM/approved upgrades). Some even end up prepping to trade their cars cos they have R100K to load onto a finance deal but are living so far outside their means that they don't have R20K for tyres... These are not assumptions sucked out of thin air... they are discussions from this forum over the years... though I think Paul knows this. If he really believed anyone here was a drug lord, he would think twice about saying it.

Why is it cool for us to encourage people to throw their lives down the toilet (everyone here is clapping away when the forum Emojis work as someone buys a 900K 320d)... but when someone does something 'responsible' but somewhat extravagant its seen negatively? Apart from Paul's view on anyone who is better off than him being a criminal, there are the office masses who say "Oh I would never spend R600K cash on a depreciating asset..." Cool story dude... so get your own money and show me how its done! Oh sorry, you were busy spending 400K on a car that you had to give back to BMW after 3 years? And still had to load R100K on your next one? Shame... must be nice in your glass houses. Everyone is an expert at spending your money... but not their own.

I guess, also, nobody cares that you haven't bought a car for 5+ years... nah, buying a car cash makes you a drug lord/cultist/etc like @QikNish LMFAO. Tell yourself another lie to make you sleep at night... but don't make slanderous comments and single out people.

Tops. Cash is king. If you go in and buy in a few cars or just have no trade and cash you can really twist the arm of sales people this time of year.

Might be a KZN thing, but I actually have less luck with cash here... Most of the dealerships try to push finance sales for some reason.

Not a KZN thing, cash didn’t mean much to the some of the dealers in GP, Ford was the worst.

I suppose it depends on the type of car and how desperate they are to unload it. For the Supra they didn't seem interested at all (regardless of method) in the beginning but I got a call back last year (which ended in more 1980s sales tactics) and another now... They aren't selling anything. They are now offering it at 950 with plan which was supposedly 100K extra last year...

Look around. look at retail: Look at massmart. 34 stores GONE. Game is redefining itself and looking at the spin we can read into what that means. At the high end, Bakos Bros is closing down... business rescue failed. ICT is axing jobs left right and centre (how's that 4th IR spin going around tech jobs?)... these are 500K+ earners (supposedly high quality taxpayers) and car allowance earners in the thousands (literally) suddenly out of jobs. Banks are going digital and having to get competitive which means they have to trim the fat... This has been happening for the past 5 years. Even people who have been 'paid out' are needing to stretch that money or invest into businesses and hope for the best.

You don't have to believe me though... when I get the slides from the CitiBank economist I will see if I can post some up in another thread. I saw them last week at a "drug dealer and criminal" conference LMFAO.

People are not buying cars. They are not credit worthy or terrified they will not be credit worthy soon. IF they are buying cars, they are buying used when they would normally have been buying new OR buying in a segment or two below what they could normally afford. Believe spin from sales people and statistics of 'sales' between dealers all you want... if one dealer doesn't want to deal or pretends they don't care, go to another who will... You also can't go to a few busy dealers in the middle of a city who wouldn't deal anyway and say that cash doesn't work.

All the buttons, makes one think it's a spaceship LoL!
The carbon really blends well with the interior though.
