Got a new toy, Ipad2 - What apps?

Good day,

As per the subject line I have got the new "must have" tool of the moment.

Now I have been a an Android man for a while but all indications point to the Ipad for tablets. (Hope I'm not wrong)

With the vast array of apps (some at cost) I was hoping the Tech minded members can recommend the more usefull apps that I should download.

Looking for mail retrievel, reading of documentation, to do list, recording of minutes, VPN access, the ability to sync with my PC & upload/download info from my companies network.

I don't like being tied to one device so the concept of cloud computing works for me, but i want one truth not updateing on differant devices whole day.

Is this doable or am I watching to much Sci Fi?:fencelook:

Basically allows access the root file system of the phone and in turn install cool stuff apple would never allow.

Here's a quick rundown on some of the possibilities.

Having said that, chances are you can't jailbreak (untethered) if you just got the phone and ont firmware <=4.3.3 are untethered; meaning to dont have to plug it into the PC each time you reboot the home to preserve your jailbreak.

You'll also want a US iTunes store account too to take advantage of the cool free apps we don't get here because f media restrictions of some sort.

Ipad is great. But if you bought it for the above reasons you may get frustrated over time. Its more a fun tablet to do fun things with than work...:=):

This worked best for me:

1. Car magazines online...you pay for it but browsing them on ipad works very well.
2. BMW connect: especially the web radio...will never get bored while travelling long distance or working in your garage...cleaning your car.
3. BMWFanatics browsing is fun and easy on ipad. The keypad buttons is a tad slow when replying on a post on fanatics but its better if you have Wifi access.
4. Email is fun and easy especially if it is web based.
5. Documents on ipad will always be a pain, i dont mean typing a word doc, but synchronizing and effortlessly moving between docs. PC cannot be beaten on this.
6. For cloud computing, i use skywriter and can access preferential docs, pix, vids from my home computer anywhere in the world. My PA has my skywriter password for docs so she can access my working docs in real time and do the rest.
7. I am also like you, i also use diff communication mediums throughout the day. PC at work, IMAC at my other work, IMAC at home in my study and next to it a laptop for all my video and picture editing, Ipad next to my bedroom table, Tiny Laptop in garage for car; huge IMAC in my living room if i want to play games, iphone4 i use on the go...everywhere.

But thats just me, must feel connected whereever i am

Angry Birds is a must have app :)

I found downloading PDF's of overseas magazines & reading them on the iPad very cool..

Pages - to write word docs
Numbers - to do excel spreadsheets
ibooks - rading pdfs
Zinio - to buy many many magazines

We just use the standard mail for emails..

And its a iPad 1 :( and not jailbroken either
