Goodbye BMW ,hello Porsche

Just a quick update. After some to and froing and doing my due diligence on the car I have decided to take the plunge. Deal was sweetened by a price drop and a good interest rate. Pics to follow a little later. Btw I have an Oem indoor cover for the 987 which I am unable to advertise in the for sale section.

Did you end up buying the one from webuycars? Very nice looking I like the silver.

Yes, I did. I admit I was pretty sceptical of them. But after doing a complete check over of the car with Porsche, my mind was put at ease concerning the mechanical integrity. Previous owner was fastidious in servicing and maintainence, even bought the correct n- rated tyres from the dealership.
What I can conclude from my webuycars experience is that it was a hit rather than a miss. Btw, they did drop the price and sorted a lower interest rate which more than covered the price of replacing the brake disc's and pads. They also gave me 40k more than anyone else was offering for my trade in. So, at the end of the day I wont necessarily recommend webuycars (they sell quite a lot of junk!), but it is possible to find a diamond amongst the dirt.

Congrats on the 981.
I am about to pull the trigger as well...

Go for it!!
Only problem is that after you buy a Porsche, you won't want to drive anything else!

Please tell me how you got them to send the car to Porsche for a checkup and who paid for it?

They got one of their drivers to take it there. Price drop covered the cost. I paid Porsche directly in person after the work was completed by them and invoiced.

Why do you ask?

Last year I wanted to buy a Cayman from them and I asked them if they can take it Porsche for a check which I was going to pay for, hey refused and I walked away. Now I’m just saving enough to be able to buy a car directly from Porsche.

Anyone knows a good auto trimmer in Durban. Upper interior door trim is lifting. Apparently its a common problem on 981/ 991 without the extended leather package. Mr Y was really fortunate to have his replaced. Reports from overseas of Porsche refusing replacement eventhough its a well known problem presumably caused by the use of a water based adhesive.
Other than that my car has run faultlessly. Using it has a daily driver now as proved to be no hassle, but rather brightens up the daily commute.

Don’t know them personally but judging from what I’ve seen, they look quite decent

I would suggest Cabriolet Auto Trimmers, given your car..

Thanks. I know that they are a long established business. Hopefully there standards haven't slipped. Just need to find time to book my car in

After a year and a half of trouble free motoring, I start the car up in the morning and this appears 20210630_133701.jpg
Able to select first gear only, but clutch doesn't seem to be engaging, revs rise but I'm going nowhere.
I'm hoping it something simple, the cost of a replacement pdk transmission is stress inducing!

Could just be battery voltage... I had transmission related errors on my M5 and it just needed a new battery. The Alfa DCT box has the same issues when charge is low (and mechatronics doesn't want to play nicely) - though I haven't had this before personally I have read about it.

I'm hoping thats the issue. Car has the original battery which is about 9 years old.Mechanic is coming later to run diagnostics.
