I tried the search function and came up with nothing :sorry:

On Wednesday when I reversed my car out, noticed 1 reverse light not working and when I switched the lights on, OBC gave me a tail light failure error but both tail lights were working Thinking

Anyway stealers want R150 per bulb Hammerhead

This is my first time buying bulbs & I dont wana put cheap bulbs that wont last long so which is a good brand to buy ?

Last but not least, I got semi clear tail lights (indicators are clear), the bulbs on the indicators are orange and it irritates me :bangdesk: do you get clear bulbs that

R150 for a reverse light bulb?

Not possible, but then with BMW parts I suppose anything is possible.

Any bulb will do, quality is pretty much all the same.

While I was waiting there was a guy with a e46, he got a quote for R250 excl VAT per bulb :roflol:

you say quality is almost the same between OEM and Aftermarket, then im on my way to Autozone  thanks rick540

I buy a box of 10 osram single filament bulbs from Diesel electric for about R35.00 . I think Midas/Autozone cheapies are shit .Look at H1 55 watt for e36 headlights at R9.99 against osram cool blue or so at R70.00 a pair at Diesel electric -I can see white in front of the car !!
Rick - " any bulb will do .." I get what you say but we all know there are spares and there are spares .
Good luck .

I just bought some pretty nice quality ones at Autozone.

I'm not talking out of ignorance here, I have a light meter and I measured the wattage (current drawn at 13.8V), Vs Lumen output and it was the same as Osram. The aftermarket ones in question are stamped Autolec, and is decently nickel plated, and the base is well made. Lifespan, well we'll see, don't know yet.

I havent seen the real cheap stuff for a while, most parts places are selling a better quality these days

I normally use Osram, but if BMW want to charge R150 (Not everybody can get to Diesel Electric) I would be able to replace the cheapies 10 times over for that.

I think some guys will not know the difference between quality of bulbs .
Hope the guys also have parts sellers that sell better quality bulbs . The potholed roads found outside the Western Cape reduce bulb life as well - lucky you !!
Pity that testing resistance on a few new bulbs will not give an indication of lifespan .

Thats why I love LED's so much (The genuine Hella and Philips)

I've got all my interior lights replaced with LEDs on my E46.
Got a pair on my license plate.
Got a pair on my inner "rear lights"/"fog lights", although I'm not happy with the rear fog light output. Maybe I should go for one of those high powered LEDs for the rear fogs, in that link you posted.

I put the Nexon bright white bulbs (H1 55W) in my car on the dipped beam. I like the bulb, its better than the standard bulb I had, wrt distance, brightness and look, but now, I need to change the high beam, park light and fogs because they are yellow.

I paid 150/set for the nexon, I know philips bulbs are more expensive, but I'm sure there's a good reason for that.

I want to get a set of Silverstar/Nightbreaker Plus for the high beam and dipped and move the Nexon to the fogs.

If you want silver indicator bulbs, the Philips Silver Vision is what I found while searching. There is a user , EMI, he says he is an official distributor, contact him, I'm sure he could help you.

You can buy stealthbulbs for the indicators from Demon_DTM on the forum or just give the orange bulbs a very thin coat of silver spray paint like I did.
