Looking to upgrade the sound in my car, BAV is super expensive, about R20k for the subwoofers and speakers. Its mostly that I want more punchy bass, but better speakers would be great too. Any GOOD places I can get good quality upgrades for the sound system that wont set me back loads of money?

I dont want ridiculous bass you see in some cars in Durban haha... classy good sound quality :)

Hi bud

In my F30 I added a 12inch Kenwood subwoofer in a bandpass enclosure and a Sony 4 channel amplifier to run the sub and also amplify all the standard door and underseat speakers and it sounds pretty decent. All in all cost me under R5k. Look at a similar option with a sound shop in your area.

I have also purchased a full Vibe Audio drop in speaker kit with amps at a bargain from a forumite that I haven't had a chance to fit yet so that should improve the sound even more.

There are options from Hygrade - Solly knows his way around BMWs. There are also drop in options

I can not recommend Razeen enough. @FILV can back me up on this.

He did the sound in my car, not sure exactly what he did (I don't know much about sound) but the difference is massive. It's absolutely clear, bass is perfect if you aren't looking for 'Durban' cars. Punchy and enjoyable.
The guy is pedantic and his pricing is, well, pretty cheap in my opinion.

He is based in Benoni

100% Cant recommend Razeen francis enough. Only person i trust for any sound, interior trim, or electronic related items.
Most patient and articulate person i know.

Got a decent sound upgrade for my previous E90's and my now current F25.
A set of Focal 4 inch speakers in the doors running off a 2 channel amp, plus a 10 in sub in a stealth sealed enclose in the boot, running off a monoblock amp, and i couldn't be happier.
Actually want to go back to him to upgrade my amp to a DSP amp to get a perfect sounstage and imaging.

Based In Benoni Gauteng. Not sure if OP is in Gauteng or not.

Per the previous comments I also can't recommend Razeen enough. He's busy with a full restoration on my e39. He did the audio in 2022 so you're free to ask him for a demonstration as the car's with him currently.

A short term and much cheaper solution could be checking your sound source. I wasn't too thrilled with the audio from my e92 , I added a DAC, playing through the aux input and it makes a massive difference. That could be a short term solution, should Razeen or whomever you choose not be available right now.

In this case unfortunately, I am in Cape Town :/
Might give him a shout though and see if I can purchase the gear from him and do an install myself though since I do a bunch of this sort of thing myself.
