Geuine e12/8 535i?

How can I easily check if the car is a genuine e12/8 535i, apart from the Vin conformation that I presumably can do at BMW SA?
Does have the dog-leg 1st gearbox. Apparently 1984 model.

That seems like a newer model engine in there... My dad has an e12/8 and it has the m90 engine in with the different intake manifold

Not an expert but motor looks correct for an ‘84 model

Here is a pic of an e12 528i that’s been for sale on the net

Also did you check the tags...

That car is unlikely to be a 535i unless it was modified.
The E12/8 cars had 2 remote brake boosters under the coolant bottle.

On a second look that is a 518 body shell with assorted 535 stuff.

As Vans has stated that motor is from the e34.

If it’s the white e12 for sale in Roodepoort then it’s definitely a transplanted motor and gearbox...I think onto a 528i body...

Also that might be an e34 motor....I’ve noticed most of the e34’s just have 3.5 on the intake manifold, whereas as the older ones have 3.2/3.5 on them?

Like I said that picture I sent is of our car that we own. We have the production papers from Germany so it is an authentic e12/8 m535i 1983 model

Yeah, the car advertised on OLX in Roodepoort. Car needs some cosmetic work and those wheels just does not look right. Was that dog-leg 1st gearbox only fitted to the 535i, 333i and older 530MLE? Price looks reasonable, but if not genuine 535i then I might have a serious re-think as I'll be buying an old modified E12. Also, something bothering me about the interior. Look at the dash, that looks like the dash fitted to the E12/8, but the centre console beneath looks like old E12?
