Getting this beastie tomorrow

Hello from NZ folks :) Hard to believe that we have been here for two years already. We just this week received our permanent resident visas, and now it's a short three years to residence.

Last year we bought two new Tiguans. Nice cars over all, but having two of them in the drive is a bit same-same and to be frank, the Tiguan is a bit boring to drive. Sooo...I just signed the paperwork on this lovely specimen and will be picking her up tomorrow:

She comes pretty nicely optioned too. A few of the standout features:
Msport Model
S223A Electronic Damper Control (EDC)
S229A Dynamic Drive
S2H9A BMW LA wheel, V Spoke 356
S2VAA Chassis & suspens. setup"Adaptive Drive"
S323A Soft-Close-Automatic doors
S4KSA Contrast stitching
S4NDA Instrument panel, leather-covered
S4URA Ambient interior lighting
S5DLA Surround View
S610A Head-up display

Black on black with black roof-lining :) A good bargain at NZ$52k / ZAR476k

Any ideas for names and upgrades?

At $52k is quite a bargain imho. Fuel in Auckland is expensive (R23/l) so the big engine cars are a hard sell (not that you would think that given the commonplace nature of M5s, Rs6s, AMGs, etc.)

Another thing to consider here is Japanese and Singapore imports...they are often much cheaper than NZ New cars but come with their own issues.

All in all, this one was kind of mid-range price wise for 6ers overall, and right now there's only 1 other vert available...a 640d. I think I did goood :)

The coupes are quite rare, and the verts even more so. Kiwis love the gran coupe though.

Congrats man...

Looks amazing.
We get screwed here with prices. Was looking at prospects in Canada recently. Almost brand new M2's going for btwn 500k-600k when u convert to Rands.

Even M4's are roughly 250-300k cheaper

Lovely luxury cruiser. I think part of the reason cars are cheaper is that in SA MP is compulsory as opposed to other countries. Personally, I think the consumer should be able to choose. I think this will also increase sales volumes but the risk is that many used cars wont be properly maintained which doesn't make the MP such a bad thing, especially for guys buying used cars.

Congrats and welcome back :smilebounce: Looks proper!

More details please, what engine does this have and what made you opt for a vert in a place that doesn't have the best weather (from what I heard from friends and family)? Would love to know more about NZ in general..

Some of the luxury brands over here offer complimentary scheduled servicing...aka a service plan but full maintenance plans are not at all common. We were lucky with that in SA since it added re-sale value :)

Thanks. It's good to be back :) We have had an incredibly mild winter and during summer I was lank envious of all the verts cruising around in the sun. Summers here are actually rather decent and with so many beautiful places to drive to a vert just seemed like the ideal choice. And besides, I loved my 645ci.

It was a choice between the 6-er, a Jag XJ 3.0D or a Merc Cl550 AMG Line. All in the same price and age bracket. What killed the XJ for me was the slow touch screen and some poor material choices. The Merc was a no-go becuase it's a Jap import so voice command and nav don't work (unless you opt to replace the entire COMAND unit at a cost of $5k.)

This one has the good old N63 4.4 twin turbo. It's had a couple of campaigns carried out wrt injectors etc.

As soon as a car hits 3-years old you have to take it for a warrant (roadworthy) every year, and those guys are ruthless when inspecting the car. No chance of bribing them with a 2l coke and some KFC. That means most pre-owned cars here have pretty solid service histories. Service costs are also fixed and transparent. My (ex)Tiguan was just serviced on Monday. Cost was $450 at VW and I could not get it cheaper anywhere else...and not for lack of trying.

now imagine the prices when the rand was stronger! like 8/$ a few years ago...the C43 is such a bargain buy abroad too.

Congrads Hugo, Beautiful car,

My folks were in Auckland for a month last year and they loved it

My mums brother has been living there for the past 17 years, he drives a Badass Ford Falcon Typhoon

I stand corrected, but I think Sean (Maranour) from Axis now resides In NZ as well

Picker her up at mid-day...wow. So much power and I am a HUD convert. Never understood the point of them but having one makes so much sense.

Will post some more photos over the weekend.

Considering that all NZ cars are imports, we definitely get ripped off on the cars we build/assemble here.
