Getting annoying now

Hey guys as some of you would know, two weeks ago I had some overheating issues and decided to change the thermostat+housing & waterpump. SEE HERE.

Now these few days, random leaks appear and disappear...i.e. leak (as in dripping little drops every 2 second) from the bottom radiator hose connecting to the radiator and also the upper radiator hose connecting to the top side (next to the bleeder screw hole). I suspected that the clamps weren't keeping it tight anymore so I bought new ones. [I did bleed the system afterwards.]

Its still leaking! Perhaps its the pipe that's the culprit here?? (Oh it's leaking from where the pipe + clamp meets the radiator and nowhere else along the pipe) Or did I not bleed the system properly?

Need pics?

Thanks!

Regards
Max

is there not a small crack in the radiator where the pipe goes on?

Now you see, the bottom one was the first to start leaking and I bought a new clamp and now it's fine. I'll check if there's any cracks on the radiator itself...will be a little hard to spot though.

Did you clean everything up properly?

I did clean the grime/deposits out of the pipes :dunno:

The inside of the rubber pipes get rust deposits that are all hard - dont seal.

So..new pipe(s)? :)

Nah just scrape the hard deposits off

Hmmm...like inside all the way in the middle of the pipe? or just the outer edges (like 5cm's deep) of the pipe?

Just the ends where it seals, the other thing I do is spray the surfaces with silicone spray before assembly, this allows the rubber to move and seal as one tightens the clamp.

OK Cool! Thanks a million Rick! :) Will work on that tomorrow night when I'm back from work.

Permoseal sold @ SOS Oil

My bakkie has had a cracked thermostat housing for the last year (longer actually) with this holding it together.

It is exceptionally good and if you ever get a leak it reacts straight away to air only so doesnt clog anything.

I can assure you this will solve your problem, it is also vibration resistant so lasts absolute ages.

My dad has been selling the entire JB Weld range for the last 15 years, and has never had a negative comeback.

In fact, the Athlone Stadium arches are glued together with JB Weld Products.

Mine always leak. If it is not the radiator, it is a cracked water hose flange or a bleeding screw. Not saying that it is alright, but if it just oozes slightly in cannot cause harm, but it is better to keep your hand on it and fix it. I am on the 4th bleeding screw. Just left it, this time.

Looks like I needed a new pipe anyways :) It seems the system is now finding the weakest part and break that part. Goldwagen should sell these right?
