GETRAG Gearbox Rebuild

Hi Fanatics

I have a 5 speed GETRAG 220 I took out of my e36, it honestly looks like crap.

Can anyone recommend someone who can do a proper rebuild for me, maybe have it vapor blasted and a coat of paint in the process as I want it looking new again.

mayfair gearbox and diff repair...not sure about their work though as i havent had to do any with them yet

what would the cost of this be? i bought a ZF 5 speed from a 330i for like R3500...personally i would rather buy that if the cost of the refurb is close and i imagine it would be.

Also interested in some decent gearbox places, I have a Getrag 280 M5 box that needs to be rebuilt

There work is excellent, done a microbus gearbox for me many years ago and did it proper. Will definitely recommend them.

I'm actually stuck between selling the GETRAG (if it's worth anything) and getting a ZF, I don't know what is the better option for track use. The gearbox I would've loved to have unfortunately cost more than the car.

You mean, the automatic zf 8 speed that some of the internationals now put into their e46 track cars? I would love that just in my normal cars but yeah that build price would be insane.

ZF....with the M5 box above i understand the rebuild but in your case buy the ZF.
