Look, I grew up and still live near or on a farm, if a labourer is not happy with his pay he can go somewhere else where someone might employ a person with no literacy skills etc. Its not like they are not getting paid, believe me.
The farmer ( owner ) of the farm land is the "Baas" period. He has an obligation to work the land to the benefit of his family, the people buying his product and the people working on the farm.
Now killing a person and his family because a person is unhappy about his "job" and somewhere along the line maybe it was his great great great great great grandfathers piece of land even though he himself and his family is not South African is stupid.
I for one hope this comes to an end.
Farmers are the backbone of this country.
They feed us, they preserve this beautiful country of ours, unlike most..

Shouldn't all attacks be treated the same? Whether the victim is a farmer, or any other civillian?
I dont understand how blocking the roads helps prevent murders?
Much the same with other criminals blocking roads and causing chaos to the public because they unhappy with service delivery. By all means, then go block Zuma and the rest of hiss allies' houses and roads they use. Hit them, not the ordinary South African.

The problem is there is a general perception that the government is not doing enough to prevent farm attacks. And of course a general perception that there is a conspiracy of sorts behind the attacks. Genocide in short.
The farmer (or boer) is in a very bad situation at the moment. Soft targets for criminals and constant worry that their land will be confiscated. Not a good situation because young people will be mad to start farming... good luck with that food security thing in 20 years.

All government related protests have an underlying problem, the state is not doing enough. Now as to whether they can/could/will do more for whatever the issue is at the time lies with the politicians in power.
If you think about it, people will voice their opinions until they think they are not being heard. When that happens, they take to the streets which is the case today in hopes that the government will do something now that a larger part of the population has been inconvenienced with roads being blocked. It seems that the government does not listen until vandalism starts to creep in. By that time, it's too late and too much damage is done.
I hope this changes.

I had empathy for this cause, until the old flag was raised high and the democratic flag was burnt out in these marches.. the old anthem was also the order of the day!
None of the organisers condemned such displays.. what is the message in all of this? Reminiscing about the the apartheid regime? Wishing things could go back there?

100% agree wrt to the old SA flag.
The symbolism of that flag achieved one significant "goal" in that where perhaps all South African people may have had empathy for the farmers who have been tortured and murdered in some horrific examples of hate crimes have instead driven a wedge between themselves and "the rest of us".
There is violent and brutal crime throughput SA which the SAPS are either unwilling to address or are inept. There does seem to be a trend that the farm murders have an extra level of brutality attached.
But by going out as they did yesterday and not themselves sorting out those people form their midst displaying the old flag well all they achieved was to provide ample ammunition to the ANC / EFF to state that this was a racial thing and not a peaceful demonstration to highlight brutal farm attacks.
Very sad.

As much as it was about farmers yesterday, some uncouth, uneducated fools decided to jump onto the gravy train and throw a lot of support of course.
I for one, really sympathize with all who are affected by the crimes, farmers are being targets...lets be really honest and they are dying inhumane deaths with torture being the fruits of the day in these attacks.
it is a sad state of affairs but that old flag is going to cause the same if not more attacks and that is what the simpletons who are taking them out, fail to understand.
