Chefdj thanks for coming early to help set up. Also for the kind gesture of bringing 2 bags of chips. Jody, thanks for sorting the baloons. Seeing you with 30 helium filled baloons was a funny sight but you grounded yourself well. Lol. Thanks also for coming to setup and staying till the last bit.
Firoze_D, Zubair and Dajee, thanks for the amazing braai. I was so full I didnt even have cake. Thanks for braaiing and feeding our families and friends.

To everyone that attended and helped in anyway, you guys all deserve a round of applause. Thank you. It was really heart warming seeing fanatics interact but what was more amazing was fanatics familes interacting.

Lol Arbee, 2 bags doesn't put into perspective the 50 or so I still have in my boot, plus the 20 or so I gave to Kabir's wife for their son (much to Kabir's dismay) and the others that went to the guy who helped clean up....

Really good day gents and gals.....really get to see what brilliance this forum is made off. Thanks to chef, moe and dewald for helping me out with setting up gazeebo and carrying all my stuff items.
What a great afternoon, and brilliant memories etched into our hearts and minds. The words of Twinz that were given to us via Arbee was just downright inspiring and makes a fanatic wanna become a better person, not only in terms of motoring but more so as individual and amongst society. Thanks Charles....really needed to hear something like that.

Happy birthday to all of you.
A "community" is defined as:
"a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common."
BMWFanatics began as a chat site about BMWs in 2009 and has evolved over the 5 years as a very active online "community" of BMW fanatics. The BMW brand is still its most important characteristic but its not the only reason for its existence.
The BMWFanatics community has no borders and no bounderies but it remains uniquely South African. It is a microcosm of the broader South African community. This unique characteristic is its strength but it is also its biggest challenge. What we experience in the physical broader South African community we also experience "online". We bring the drama of our real lives to the BmwFanatics forum...with all its spice, twists and turns, mystery, surprise, seriousness and humour.
When we sad or happy we share that with this online community. When life knocks us hard we share that online. When we buy a new BMW we share that joy with our fellow online enthusiasts. When we celebrate a wedding or a birthday we share it online.
We were able over the past 5 years to transcend from a chat-room to a fast growing on line community - where members feel accepted and appreciated and are free to share their (lives) with one another and not only their precious material BMW possessions.
But can we continue to overcome our differences as members from different communities, religions, and cultures and geographic provinces?
Is the bmwfanatics brand strong enough to transcend these inherent odds against us?
The fact that we can celebrate 5 years as an online community despite our inherent challenges and weaknesses is a milestone that points to the fact that we as BMW fanatics are resilient and proud and we have realised we need each other.
As BMWFanatics we are not afraid of the future because we part of something that inspires us; that drives us to do better each day.
The bmwfanatics forum is a symbol of what is possible in building community. Its not perfect but it aspires after good community values such as friendship, mutual respect & support, fair-play, sharing and caring. All those good values that the BMW brand is known for.
