Gauge Options

New to this forum, so hey guys :)

I bought a 130i last month and flippin love this car, only thing that pisses me off is the lack of gauges.

I've read that bm left off the water temp due to using electric pumps and apparently the temps fluctuate quite alot and it would have confused everyone.

But oil temp/pressure, I come from old skool and you gotta keep an eye on those when driving hard. And it's nice to know when you can start to give the car some juice without worrying about blowing a bearing.

So now I'm looking for some form of odb gauge, you guys used any or know of anything local? A few of my mates use DashDaq, but thats mainly for turbos and I'm not to fond of it at R6000! :(

Welcome,

I hear you on the lack of gauges, its damm annoying...

Google hidden features on the 1 series, there may be some hidden shortcut that will display things like water/oil temp on your screen. I have it on my cars.

How bout some photo's, that 130 must fsck off in that small body...

Shot  Found some promising options. Didn’t even think about that! Suppose the performance sw displays all the data I'm after... Will let you know how this goes

Sorry a bit of a noob into post then, always google 1st.

But what I do like about the odb gauges is a few of them have data loggers and even accelerometers so can track 0-100's and lateral G's and all the other interesting kuk which doesn't really mean much. But nice to have, can see how high the wife rev's and how fast she drives :p

Will defiantly get some pix up, the car is alot more fun than I was expecting. Can some the car up in one word "Sideways", was feeling brave in the rain the other night and disabled traction, geez that was an experience

Welcome to the forum. You will love the 130i. I’ve had 2.

I got the Performance steering wheel fitted. It shows the oil and water temp’s. I use it every day to see when I can start driving hard.

Heres pics of my car in this thread, you’ll see the performance steering:

Congrats on the car, you will have many more smiles in the coming months :)

I went into the hidden menus of the OBC, and found the menu which displays coolant temperature. It was interesting to note how it fluctuates. Gets up to about 80Deg within 2min, and then the thermostat must open, which allows the warm and cool water to mix, dropping the temps quite a bit, down to about 50-60Deg.

Once it was warm though, it hovered between 75 and 82 Degrees, through town or on the highway.

Apparently the facelift cars have an oil temp gauge in the speedo. Although I have not seen for myself.

Hey, yeah the hidden menu's are very cool! Just a bit of a pain to have to go through that every time you wanna see temps.

There is a how to on 1 addicts if anyone else is keen: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211269 (hope it's alright to post links)

What would be sweet is if there was a hidden menu for the Radio, so instead of seeing the generic Fuel Cons/ Range/ AVG speed we could get all the relevant data.

Going to try my friends DashDaq next neek, but found a simular product from alot less. http://www.vi-performance.com/features.aspx

Gonna take the car in for a service next week, so will check out those preformance sw's aswell.
@carbon, your's looks super hot!
