How are the sales numbers on these models?

Are they doing as well as the previous gen cars? I hardly see any on the road. I'm wondering
if its due to the hideous front bumper or the insane pricing.

Does anyone have comparative numbers to the F82 ?

Just by virtue of them being literally double the price of outgoing models and being out-priced by Porsche for quite some time fewer people will be in them. This is also apart from (as you say) the horrendous styling.

I would also love to know the numbers vs outgoing models since I have not really seen any on the road. I've probably seen more M8s and M5s than I have G80/82s (and of course PLENTY of F80/82s driving around)

I have seen a surprising amount of them around my area... PS. I'm on the side of the fence that loves the new styling 😁

Saw a lime green one in Durban this weekend - hilariously horrible. I suspect it'll be sort of like the bug-eye subarus. So ugly it sort of becomes a point of pride that you've opted into a car that is *that* aesthetically challenged...

Pricing is prohibitive......styling I think has grown on a ton of people. M3/M4 at R1.6M would sell like crazy.

People would rather buy a 2020 M5C for high 1Ms/R2M or buy a 2020 F80/2 for almost 800k less, assuming you want to stay in the BMW stable. I mean you can buy a 2018 M5 for R1.5M, even though that MP expires next year and then I assume that car is worth R1.2M whereas the M3/M4 would still hold its value higher than that for a couple more years.

Saw a young guy around Bedfordview, no plates, blacked out and pipes.
Was up my arse, would have been keen to see how it performs against the super M but had to nurse it as my car just got back from Sav for bearings.

Still ugly with that kit I think.

The below render would look so much better:

This is a lot prettier... But it's even got a different bonnet too. The other issue with the new M4 isn't just the snout (that is the most egregious) it's the way the front fenders flow into the area behind the door (also the kink is nearly completely gone). As ugly as the front is, the side profile just doesn't work nicely either...

Agreed. There is very little, actually scratch that. There is no flow in the design. No continuity. No clean lines. It’s design elements thrown together. Like it was designed by 3 people on their toddlers sketch board and put together.

They could have done a better job with the kidney grills, The problem is that they put hard angles into it while trying to also put smooth bending lines on the outer side while tapering it towards the bottom, there are also too many angles to it making it a very strange unknown shape which is what rubs people the wrong way as its not familiar, which unfortunately just looks like bad design, if you look at other cars like Audi who do gigantic grills they stick to known shapes as in the correct amount of "sides" so the shape is allot more natural and thus pleasant to look at. Audi RS3 for example has a 6 sided grille. It doesn't have hard corners and then kind of blunt out the other side of the grille with with rounding they keep the symmetry of the shape going on both sides.

Coming from a design background this is what puts me off of the design.

I personally think allot of people still buy the new M's because they have to have the latest M no matter how hideous it is. They need to have it as soon as possible too. A status thing I guess?

I personally have never cared about "new" I only like what I find to be aesthetically pleasing, if the car is 50 years old it makes little difference to me as long as I personally find it to be good looking. Just like I find the new Z4 to be absolutely hideous and far to big to be called a Z anymore, and so I will stick with mine till something I find prettier makes its way out the BMW stable.

Some people have to have New! and some people have taste.....Can't have both 🤣
