I bought Bosch spark plugs from them for my 330i - speak to Bruce, very helpful guy there. So yes, have dealt with them and had stuff sent by post, so no problems. And they have a facebook page - G-Drive Automotive...

The guy I spoke to is Bruce yes and service seems very good.

Will be making a decision to buy a waterpump from them for the E90. Their price is R715.00 compared to the dealers R2500.00 with their part obviously being generic and not OE.

Any thoughts?

Yea I think the decision you need to make is not whether or not to buy from G-Drive, but rather what brand of water pump you want in your car. I'm sure buying from g-drive will be a fine experience, but at the end of the day, you should rather research the brand of replacement they are supplying.

I recently did this with the Meyle Expansion tank they offered at a very reasonable R620, and after research, decided that OEM was the way to go.

Find out brand the component is, then hop on to teh american forums and see what they say.

That's the reason for this post yes. I was hoping that someone previously bought mechanical parts from them and is able to comment on the quality of the replacement part.

Interesting though is that the price of their Thermostat is the same as the agents, so I would say on some parts they're cheaper and others not.

I think I will take the risk with the waterpump - I've spent a bit on the car this month already trying to sort my water leaking issue, replacing hoses, expansion tanks etc, so I really can't afford the OE waterpump as well within this budget. If the part breaks further down the line after not much service, I'll replace it with an OE part, if not, then all good and well.

you cant just make a blanket statement on G-drive parts... it all depends on what brand the part is... from what i have seen G-drive seem to carry quality parts but they might have a Spaza water pump for you...

Its a bit like asking if Ebay parts are OK :roflol:

Their prices and range is pretty good - a lot of the stuff is generic, but I gather good quality aftermarket brands. Things like coil packs and spark plugs, probably as cheap as you are going to find - Diesel Electric had no stock of the Bosch spark plugs that I wanted for my 330i, and general enquiry, had no coil packs in stock. You can order obviously, but in packs of ten only! And this is because our BWM's are straight ten motors... :nonono:

They parts seem decent and for a company to specialise in BMW aftermarket replacement parts, and still be around after 3 years should say that the quality of parts they sell is good enough.

Moranor - I'll be buying the spaza waterpump

Just got this from Bruce:

It is a pump called Meyer, which is a replacement brand.

I also have Meyle, which is a German O.E.M manufacturer.

The first one being R715.00 and the second one R1460.00.
