funny idle M3 3.2

hey guys, something funny has happen recently the car idles smoothly but the after driving a while the car starts to jerk at very low revs which it never use to the jerk is not too bad but when that starts happening and you stop the car dead the car starts to idle like there is a mild/aggressive cam in, it doesnt affect performance and the car still pulls strong but this has been bothering me as i dont know what it could be it doesnt happen all the time but once you feel the jerk you know the car is going to idle funny sometimes it dies when i put the clutch in sometimes it brings the revs back up but what could this be??

Hi there, try running it with some fuel system cleaner, I had a similar issue with my M Coupe which I purchased some months ago, now resolved after one tank of fuel system cleaner, and two tanks of valve ease....

1) idle control valve either the piping popped out or it needs replacing/servicing

2) fuel filter

thanks for the reply guys will check out the fuel filter and where is the idle control valve pipe im new to the bmw world if anyone has pics it would help me alot thanks again, will try fuel cleaner as well, so its nothing really serious?

Also check for vacuum leaks.

could it be there airflow meter?

Have a similar problem with my E46, its not a 6 cylinder though. It happens on cold starts, when I take off from stand still the revs just drop and sometimes the engine stalls completely. Everybody has a lot to say about it, from timing to petrol pumps and such and such...

I've made an appointment with Tune Tech for Monday.

i know it can really be anything but the thing is its not very bad it doesnt ever happen 1st time i start the car, just as i drive and when i come to a stand still it starts idling like a cam and you can see the rev needle hopping i had a cammed 200gxi and its very simliar to that idle lol

funny this i do only put it shell even with my other cars, it seems to be some sort of fueling issue i have cleant my engine bay when i washed the car could be some pipe or something that came loose thats when it started happening, just too scared to touch anything there lol

:hammerhead: that might be it.....buy a can of Q20 and hit all the elc points first to make sure its not moisture, then work back from there - water should not have gotten into the fuel system as that should be well close circut. good luck.

thanks guys no luck yet all pipes look intact just hope its not vanos, my battery is dying too died on me yesterday when i hit brakes the lights in the goes dim could this affect it ?

Guys I found out the ECU needs to be reset the problem was when I gave my friend a jump from my battery I gave it directly from the battery and not the jumper box under the bonnet which kicked out my ECU can anyone please guide me on how to do the do I just leave the battery out for X amount of time and how many kilos do I have to drive before it settles back in cause we noticed on cold start the car drive normal as the car gets hot the idle becomes heavy then you turn the car off and back on then it normal again till you drive I have checked all pipes and replaced the fuel filter so almost certain its the ECU that is confuse doesn't know if the car is hot or cold

arh dont say that lol but funny thing is i removed the battery for like 2 hours its much better now if not gone completely but going to put the car on the dynostics by zeemax end of the month just to make sure!

:slap: jump starts if done wrong can cause endless problems even blow stuff in these cars.
a couple hours should do - but one would have to have the codes reset at BMW or someone who has the tool.

:hammerhead:i deserve that! lol only found out afterr the jump where the points are but so far so good hasnt done it again since the battery was removed, but that is must do have to go clear the codes number 1 on my list, im just glad its not the vanos or something major
