Fuel Leakage on E90 LCI

Hi Guys

I have now owned a E90 LCI 320i for the past 1.5yrs. Believe it or not I never got to fill up the tank until recently, and to my horror it literally leaks fuel when it goes beyond 3/4 of the tank.

I have recently also changed the fuel pump about a month ago with a BMW agent, my initial suspicion were that something went wrong in the replacement of the pump. But BMW said they dont touch the Tank in replacing the pump. The leaks seem to come from above the tank, cant really see from where really

I just wanted to know if anyone has had any similar experiences with this, and what might be the cause.:dunnoanymore:

Isnt this where the pump sits?

The fuel pump and sender unit sits under the passenger seats at the back in the fuel tank ( can be accessed by removing rear seat), it has a locking ring and various pipes going into it, they must have pinched the main ring seal or did not replace it when the pump was replaced. This is probably why when the tank is near full it leaks

That makes sense, I will have a look under there and see what the issue is. I will probably have to take it back to them. Thanks a lot guys that really helps.

In agreement with the suggestion. I have installed a few fuelpumps and fuel filters on cars and its easy to mess up the install.

morning guys
I took the car back to BMW and mechanic said the pump was not fully secured thus resulting in the leakage. This really cost me, spent over R2k on fuel to Durban and back (Jhb). A bit hard to account and claim from them, I still have to fillup and test it though, at least the fuel price is coming down :bravo:. Thanks guys:ty:
