Fuel economy

I guess most guys on here are not that concerned about fuel economy, being the petrolheads that you are....

But what kind of fuel economy are you getting? Looking at some of the Fuelly badges it seems it is not that good.

I am pretty impressed with my 5.8l/100km average over 138000km (320d).

Detail in my sig, but for what it is I'm impressed with the 330d economy considering it's an auto and used mainly to work and back. Also, it's very, very difficult to drive conservatively :thumbdo:

As for the V8 4.8i, ummm, well lets say I'd rather enjoy a V8 while I can cos if all predictions are true we'll probably have very few N/A V8's left on the road by the end of this decade - so enjoy them while you can.

i average about 9.6 L/100km probably about half town... e46 323i

I drive foot flat wherever i can, but the e90 gearbox, short ratio and free flow all lowered my consumption alot :rollsmile:

U lucky b%^&$ds I get 12.8/100km from my e46 330i..but that's with my heavy foot.
and on the jeep i dunno yet but last i got about 450km out of a full tank..it's a 2.5 CRD cherokee so i dont know if that's good or not:flyfun:

dont feel to bad before mods i used to get about 11...

If I stick to back roads only, then averaging around 11/100kms

I get between 11.5 and 12.5 depending on how hard I drive in Town.

If I drive on the highway, its 7.5 - 8l per 100km.

Bare in mind, my car is supercharged, I still have the cats in, and no free flow, I still have the original stock exhaust. Car is 13 years old.

I guess I should look at killing those Cats and getting exhaust done.

Any advice?

I am pretty impressed with my 330i, heavy on fuel if standing still or sitting in heavy traffic, but under normal conditions even with a heavier foot it is quite light on fuel for what it is. Ultimately I think fuel economy is concerning for everyone these days! :nonono:

In the mid 12's with my 550i. Long run is in the 9's. Happy with that considering the size of motor and the amount of metal to tag along.

Removed the cats today, well actually yesterday and it appears to be fueling a tad bit too much based on smell. Hope it doesn't make kak.

I calc tank to tank on 04 320D. I only use mine on the weekends mostly 20 - 60 km round trips. Though Im running software. Before it was 6,4 - 7.0L/100km now I can bring it to the 5.8 -6 on the runs to GP and back abd thats with the cruise control set at 130kph. Locally Im avg 6.4 - 7.

But thats hitting 180 to 200 kph every so often...............Just making sure it gets opened up from time to time

brings me back the easter weekend. Was driving to a familys place about 5kms from home. Saw this car coming at me about 100m behind. You could see this thing was closing quite quick. I was doing abt 120kph and i was approaching traffic in front.

So I come of the gas and use the engine braking to slow down to about 90. It was an incline. I drop to 4 as the traffic gives way and I put foot man I dont see those lights no more and I'm goin into a decline fast sweeper to the right then to the left back onto another steep incline holding it at 180 going up the hill. I tap of and come to the left as Im going to take the off ramp.......I see those same lights coming on the right. They match my speed an swing a spot lamp on me I look the wife and say its the metro. Here Im thinking they going to pull me over ..........I jus take the off ramp and carry on driving:joy:
