Well my dads daily commute is: 1.5km to work (some traffic) 1.5km home for lunch, 1.5km back to work, 1.5km back home in evening...

Also forgot. the Jeep is a 4.7l V8 & the Landy is a 3.9l V8 & the Pajero is a old 2.5TD
The landy & pajero are at our holiday house in Port Alfred.. so only get used a few times a year & for only very short trips as Port Alfred is a very small small town :)

Cars are running mostly while cold so higher fuel use makes sense - I used to have the same situation some years back and to at least allow the car to get up to temperature and have the battery charge I would take a longer route to work in the morning and then take a bit of a drive after work - waste of fuel I know, but in this case thinking more about the car etc. Just enough to keep things going between weekends when one could find an excuse to go onto the open road... :)

Thats why it doesnt worry us that much.. well except the corsa is a bit too high for my liking even though it does short trips..

my consumption sits between 10.5 and 9.4 l/100km. i feel the BM is quite heavy on fuel thats why i am asking as to whether the car is heavy heavy or somethng could be wrong if the consumption deferred to other beemers

You should be happy with consumption that good for a 4cyl BMW

Those consumption figures are a bit higher than normal I would say but do hold true. My ex-Corolla which was a dog by comparison to the 330i used mostly the same amount of fuel - difference is I was driving the Corolla fairly hard a lot of the time. Wasn't too bad on the open road, but the 330i is close enough and then has a whole hell of a lot more reserve power for overtaking etc. So let's say in real terms my ex-Corolla was maybe 1 - 2 l/100 km more economical overall - the 330i still puts a bigger smile on my face and that's worth the extra fuel used!!! :)

im actually getting better consumption on my bmw than the previous 1,6 polo i had...

Since everyone is doing this check i decided to do the same. I filled the car up yesterday and so far have driven 260km and the fuel gauge is sitting slightly under 3/4. Will see what I get on a tank.

Nope its a 330d. Commuting between Kempton Park and Pretoria everyday. Drive it with cruise control at 130km/h (if traffic allows it) and aircon at 16 degrees.
