The stealers prices are approximately as follows:

tie rods = +/- R1400 each
rack ends = +/- R700 each (not too sure about rack ends)
ball joints = +/- R500 for both (ball joint on the end of the LCA)
bushes = +/- R500 for both

With regards to ball joints, if its the one on the edge of the LCA then you dont have to change the entire Control Arm "BUT" if its the center ball joint, then yes you have to replace the entire control arm which is about R2800 per arm.

Don't know where you are based but my buddy bought the following parts for his 318IS in PE last week :
Tie Rods R 200.00 each
Rack Ends R 200.00 each
Ball joints (caged) R180.00 each
Ball joints (inner long ones) R160.00 each
Bushes R250.00 for set
He had the bushes replaced but he says if he wanted to get the complete control arm it would've cost him R800.00 each (with ball joints fitted).
So, phone around, you might get it cheaper.

Wsup,

As far as I know BMW does not sell ball-joints, they sell control arms already fit with the ball-joints. (+/- R2k). Also they sell a complete tierod assembly (ie tierod + rackend) at +/- R1.5k. Control arm bushes should work out at just over a grand for a set.

At that mileage you should do your stabilizer links (front AND rear) too, I can guarantee that they are shot or on their last legs…

@MRK,
Yes, he says he bought the front stabiliser links as well (R200.00 each). He did not do the rear stabiliser links but he replaced the trailing arm bushes (R450/set). Phone this guy in PE and speak to him about prices (I get my stuff from him as well).
