From the frying pan into the fire

So after 7 years of driving a 2006 E90 320i poverty spec I moved to the other extreme. Saw the car at Auto Atlantic on Saturday, signed OTP on Tuesday and took delivery last night of a 2009 E90 335i Auto Exclusive in Blue Water Metallic with the following options:
  1. Xenons with beam assist
  2. Carbon fibre: front splitter, rear diffuser and boot fin
  3. Sat nav
  4. Logic 7 Sound
  5. Bluetooth phone connection
  6. Rear electric blind
  7. Rear side blinds
  8. Sunroof
  9. Electric seats with memory
  10. M-Sport steering
  11. Rear pdc
  12. Auto dipping mirrors
  13. Storage package
  14. 18" wheels
  15. Voice control

This was an impulse buy but the 320i was starting get on my nerves with all the issues. I was actually starting to hate driving. After one night and a 100km behind the wheel of the 335i I love driving again. Can't wait to leave work today to hear the sound of that six.

This is what a BMW should feel like. The 320i was my first taste of BMW and it almost put me off the brand. Now I might be hooked for life. My wife who wanted to buy herself a small car like an i20 or Polo, told me in no uncertain terms that she wants this car. I can make a plan to get myself something else but this is going to be her car.

Nice one! Awesome purchase. Enjoy the miles

If I may, what issues did you have with your 320i? I have one too.

Since motorplan expired in November 2011 I have had to do the following:
1. Crankshaft sensor - left me stranded a couple of times, switched off mid corner as I was taking a corner
2. Plenty oil leaks - tappet cover gasket x2, sump gasket, crank case vent valve with pipes x 2, vacuum pump seal x2
3. valvetronic motor and some shaft that works in conjunction with valvetronic
4. radiator and pipes leading from radiator
5. Clutch was replaced under MP, and is slipping again, grinding when putting car in 1st and 2nd. Sometimes I struggled to get car into 1st.
6. Last straw was valve stem seals - traded car in with that not fixed as well as a knocking sound from suspension.

By the way I only got R62k as trade-in. Car had 154 000km and front bumper needs respray.

There is a bumper?

Congrats... ****Drum Roll**** let the modding start! :=):

Coming from a 320i this is far more performance that I can handle

What I do want is the sound of the performance exhaust, or something close to how an E46 M3 sounds when driven in anger :inlove:
