From 135i N55 -> F30 330d

I am contemplating this move due to the the fact that its my daily drive and I do a fair amount of mileage. I am filling up the 135i every 2-3 days.

Test drove the 330d over the weekend with the sports auto transmission. Very nice car. Not as quick as the 135i but a brilliant compromise between performance and economy. You feel the surge in power initially and then it seems to run out of steam so you change to the next gear and the surge hits again.

Driving it hard averaged just over 8.0l/100km. Drive the 135i in the same manner would set it close to 14l/100km.

The 330d comes in at a premium price. Around R500k for a 15000km 2014 model with most of the options ticked.

So should I stay or should I go? Anyone else got a F30 330d?

I have had F30 330d.Very nice vehicle but it is all about personal taste.In my opinion you are either a petrol or diesel person.I am back to the F30 335i as i found out i am definitely petrol biased with associated characteristics. If it's fuel consumption that is criteria then i would suggest rather go for the F30 320d.I had this as well and the consumption is incredibly low.Performance with the 8speed auto is also not to shabby. :rollsmile:

I had a F30 330d I could comfortably do 880 km on 48 liters, just sold mine with 30,500 km a 2013 for 381,000 it was advertised for 395,000 in Autotrader, it had professional navigation, extended instrument to, sunroof, hifi loud, 19 inch rims. On the open road to Durbs it returned 4,8 to 100 did 1100 km before putting 45 liters in. I think the dealers will sell it for 430k , I bought a 235i

@Oldman Wait.. you got 181k for a 330d?? I got way more than that for my '12 F30 320d 91,000kms .... which I traded on my 335 .. weird

Anyway to the OP.. if fuel consumption is your primary concern then the diesel is a good option.. the torque is fun and I enjoyed it in town, but my 320d lacked some serious power on the open road for overtaking as it just could never get going.. the 330d would probably be way better though.

Good luck deciding! :=):

I have had the N54 and the N55. Fuel economy and comfort with a bit of zip is now the aim. 330d sounds like a good option in my case. Like I said, it will never compare to the performance or sound of my 135i's, but if I can drive 880km on 1x tank, with very decent performance, I will be more than happy.
