That is shocking!! I really hope that this person gets pulled over and the incorrect license plates are spotted - pretty sure that is a serious offence!!!

I thought these toll gates were supposed to be able to read your license disk and were magically going to stop plate cloning.

:blab: all talk from them...what I want to know is who supplied him with plates because you need to take your cars papers with to get them.

Stupid e-tolls. You go to JHB on holiday, they send you a bill for R50 and offer half-off the amount if you pay within a time frame.. Sends you the bill a week after the amnesty ends :flyfun:

thats not cool....

@ clownshoe - these cameras are pretty crap if you ask me... the pics i have received are very blurry so i doubt they can focus in on the license disc

Got letter from Sanral this morning confirming that all monies associated with these duplicate plates were credited back to my account.

Now just to get the right person to track this chancer down.

Already recieved one sms for a traffic fine in Jhb that does not look as if its mine.

So if I claim that someone has cloned my plates with a similar colour and year car I can just say it was my clone and not me?

I think no ways if you are not registered or without a tag.

So get a tag, don't put it in the car then just say the car in the pictures was cloned.

And have this handy for when you go under a gantry...

Cannot link the Top Gear Bill Oddie mask.

Update: Last recorded use of my plates by this guy was on 12th March 2014 passing under the Oxpecker gantry (N3 south just after Grey ave offramp)

It seems this guy is operating from Alberton somewhere with all trips starting and ending at either Voortrekker rd or Grey ave on/off ramps. Various trips to Edenvale, one to Pta, one to/via Grasmere

I'm battling to upload photos - something about wrong file format - jpeg?

The car is a white 320d E90 with my reg no. BF 4# ## GP, male driver, bootspoiler, motorsport badge in front of 320d, 18" OEM mags.

On another thread it is mentioned that my problem is sorted but this is not entirely correct.

Sanral do not have problem to refund the money but only once I have made them aware of of the specific transgression and provided proof that it is not my car. So even now that they are aware that someone without a tag is using my no. plate they still allocated his costs to my account. On questioning the use of a tag their response is that it might as well be me travelling without my tag....

This guy use my no. plate on Monday 24th March again to travel from Alberton to Edenvale and back.

I also received R350 fine in the mail.

Fraud case opened at Midrand SAP.

Damn, thats hectic.

Does he travel this route everyday? Do SANRAL give you times as well when he passes through some points?

@towatoy I think I may have seen this gentleman a couple of weeks ago in Edenvale, I live in Edenvale.

I took note of this car because of the bootlid spoiler, as I have the same on my car, and noticed the ///m badge as it was out of place on a 320d. I am out of the country often but will be back next week, if you are comfortable with it PM the licence plate and your cell number so if I do see him again in edenvale I can get in contact with you asap and I will ask my wife to keep a look out to.

This is going to happen allot. People are going to clone plates to avoid Sanral. You have to be proven guilty in a court. You will win with a simple picture of your car and a picture of what they have. Its just a huge slep to go through.

Agree with iceman. This will cause major frustration and unhappiness for drivers being victim to this.:argh:
