It was a good day. We did a degrease wash, Clayed the car, did a wash, then a scratch compound treatment over the whole car, then a compound polish, normal polish, waxed it and then a liquid wax. The result was well worth it. Thank you Frazer :bravo:

What do you mean by scratch compound treatment before compound polish?

Applying a second (different) wax usually strips the first coat doesn't it?

Mods: I think we need a detailing section in the forum

It was actually a wax sealer not a different waxing process.
Addressed the more serious scratches with an abrasive polish before tackling the swirls and light scratches with a compound polish.

The paintwork on this car had been badly looked after by its previous owner so demanded a little bit of extra work on her to get to the final result.

Please note I am by no means a professional...
Just a beginner.

I'm a newbie myself, just making sure.
What's an abrasive polish? Compound is abrasive?
I have the same DA from Pravin, hoping to do my car this weekend.
Black is a pain but the depth on that Z is amazing, great job

I used Meguiers ScratchX.. Abrasive Polish for the serious issues, followed by Meguiers Ultimate Compound Polish, which lifted the lighter scratches and swirls.
You're correct both are abrasive polishes...one just a little more than the other.

Good Luck

What did you use for the abrasive polish ? Does it have a name ?
And whats the cut and gloss level on the Megs ultimate polish?

I think Fraser meant Scratch X as the abrasive... And UP is very mild

ScratchX is mild compared to Compound that's why I was confused.
If you compound an area I don't think you need Scratch X.
Scratch X is for light to medium scratches & can even be applied by hand whereas compounding will require a machine polisher for a perfect finish.
Like I said, I'm a n00b too so to any pro's, feel free to jump in

Absolutely love the gloss black look! Again job well done!

I have scratch-x too and I used it on the F20's doors, the sections behind the door handles are a problem... Worked well - rubbed it in with an applicator pad until it was basically gone and then buffed with a microfiber cloth
