Found something weird in my car

Good evening gents! I am in the process of installing a Google Nexus 7 tablet in my e46 which had the widescreen satnav unit and while I had a look at the rear speakers, I found this strange thing wrapped in spunge and taped up with duct tape under the rear parcel shelf. First I thought, hell yeah free cocaine... but then I saw it had wires coming out of it and I decided to open it up. It seems to be some sort of Motorola device, below are pics of it:

Does anyone know WTF it is? Google does not seem to have any idea...
..oh and here is a pic progress on the tablet install (I will try and make a nice write up thread about it soon):

Maybe follow to where the wire leads?

I know my E36 had Nokia speakers in. So maybe its part of the audio system or some sort of phone somewhere? :dunno:

hmmm its either a tracking device or a phone thingy.. coz I think the car has a dock for some sort of Blokia phone by the centre console..

Previous owner should be able to confirm if they had a tracker, then I am sure the tracker company would be able to confirm.

Most likely a tracking unit. Open it up and send some pics of the electronics inside. I might be able to identify it.

Just disconnect it and start the car and see what happens?:fencelook: If men with big guns appear then it’s a tracking unit :biglol:

I also once found something weird in one of my previous cars. A week after taking ownership of my Sentra, I decided to take every seat, boot mat etc out, for a nice clean.

Found a stack of Hustler magazines, lube and a "ladies tool" under the spare wheel. The car's previous owner was a young lady from Bloemfontein, who was a lawyer doing her practicals. Seems she was doing other types of practicals too.

Do you still have her contact details?
