Forthcoming 200kW VW Golf R vs F20 M135i

With the forthcoming VW Golf R said to be a 200Kw 2.0T. "According to VW, this will enable its next hot hatch to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in “less than six seconds” and reach a top speed of 250 km/h."

The M135i is surely gonna be the King of Hot Hatches going forward, because even the new S3 will be just a re-badged Golf-R with similar performance figures.

i would understand choosing the golf r over bmw if the comparable bmw product was rubbish. but in this case, the 135im is just brilliant and with the xdrive on its way there is no reason to choose the golf r over the 135im.

Nope I don't think so. The M135i competes with the likes of S3. The RS3 and A45 AMG are created by their respective performance divisions. While the M135i is not from the ///M division, think on the BMW 'is' models. There is still no word on whether the next 1 Series coupe will have a 1M, which is what can be compared to the RS3 and A45AMG.

the 135iM will more than compete with the rs3 and a45 amg. add xdrive like the other 2 and it is more than competitive in every department.

I wonder how accurate that article is; the current Golf R is 188kw here and 199kw overseas in cooler climates and does 0-100km in 5.5 secs if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway back to the question, I'm still not convinced by the looks of the M135, although performance-wise it is untouchable in its class!

Also, the features that come standard on the current Golf R are quite impressive, xenons, PDC, heated seats, amongst others. And it really is a great looking car!

Tough choice for me, my 1st choice would still be a 135i coupe!
