Fitting E34 rear window

Maybe Rick will be able to help out here. Otherwise you could try JK on 0729021664 in Pinelands. He often posts adverts on Gumtree for BMW window mechanism repairs, so should be able to help. Here's his current advert.

Welcome to hell! .... No not really but it's fiddly.
I have never done this but it involves drilling the rivets out and replacing with bolts.
The quarter window and rubbers may need to be removed then the main window slides out the top. Carefull here as there are burgler alarm wires attched to the quarter window.
I think you unbolt the rear rail at the bottom and then lower it as it just clips into the top. Dont try this without a tin of spray silicone to spray all over the rubber during reassembly, without it the rubber wont go back. At a push use soap water.
Take it slow and be paitient and you will get it sorted.

Time to get stoopid.....:roflol::roflol:Can only add 1/2 cents worth , never done this so here goes :
1 . You have removed the mounting brackets on the old window .
2 . you have to get the new window into the old runners .
3 . you may have to remove the runners from the door frame and pass the glass into the runners in the door body and then replace the top runners before moving the window up .
looking at pic 4 I would expect glass to be able to go in ,the brackets may bolt onto the arms of the mechanism . Sorry my 540 rear windows do not go down so I cant see the space available . Good luck .

UPDATE:So I took the car to Glasfit.
They said they'll fit it for me for R150.
So while the mechanic guy was sorting it out, he told me - "Im gonna say to the boss that the window mechanism is f'ed and you can just pay me R100."
So he fixed it and then told the boss/supervisor that theres nothing we can do to the window anymore as it doesnt "work". So I saved R50 :=):
All in all it cost me R200 to get a donor window and have it fitted.
They said they'll fit it for me for R150.
