Fitted New Battery on F10

I also have to replace my battery. Was shocked to see the size of that battery. Anyway here is my question; does this battery really have to be a 105Ah? I am tempted to buy a smaller battery and I don`t how this will affect. I stopped using that start-stop thing.

Alternator will be fine with either 90 or 105 is fine as long as the car is told which battery is fitted. This coding is required in order for the energy management system to do its job efficiently. I just replaced the battery on the 6er too. At some point someone fitted a cheap as non AGM low capacity battery to it. It was no longer holding any charge. My build sheet listed a 90ah battery but I opted for a 105ah instead. Registered the change in ISTA, and coded the new value in esys (very important second step if not programming with ISTA). If I hadn't done this the alternator would be supplying insufficient power for the battery fitted.

For start stop it has to be the larger 105ah and it has to be AGM. Non AGM will have a much shorter lifespan.
Thank you very much.

These battery shops are crooks by telling you the new battery doesnt need registering. They obviously dont have the equipment to do it and want you back in 18months buying a new battery. Bloody bastards!

Is there anywhere to register the battery except at the dealer?

So I bought this battery from Willard Express Boksburg for R3200. It's a 95Ah but have not registered in with the car yet.

What software is required to register the battery?
I assume you require the OBD to USB cable as well to be able to connect it to a pc running the software?

Does the same software allow you to adjust the battery installed for the power management system?

BimmerLink app with an OBDII Dongle can do it. App is R450 and the adapter about the same (just need to confirm compatibility)

Unlike Carly the BimmerLink and BimmerCode apps don’t expire after 12 months.

I've got one of those OBD2 Bluetooth dongles. So that should work with the app?

Seems simple enough.
Thanks

I also have an ELM327 I think it’s called. I’m not 100% sure if it will work. Need to plug in and check the BimmerCode app first. Same guy that wrote the BimmerLink.

Mine is a WiFi dongle for IOS so I assume the Bluetooth is for Android?

The app is cool though. Can code the exhaust flap to be open permanently too (beats plugging the vacuum line )

I dont think the the bimmerlink app will work on the ELM327 dongle. You should rather invest in a proper one.

Suggestions are appreciated on which dongle to get. The ELM is limited.
