yes the gear is something I won't compromise on. I have about 15k set aside for gear. That should be fine. :fencelook:

Take the 30k and super charge the Z3.

That would be nice...

But that won't exactly solve my fuel saver runner issue. :fencelook:

This is not what you want to hear Zack; 30k can buy you approx 2500 liters of fuel :joy:

In a supercharged Z3 that's a weeks worth of petrol... :mmm:

Hyosung are good bikes, not expensive to buy, cheap to run and service, good choice as a first bike. I am fortunate to freelance to Biker Lifestyle magazine, I get to ride everything out there, from 125cc scooters to ZX14, Triumph Rocket 2.3L, superbikes, cruisers, MX bikes, Enduro, dual sport bikes, you name it, I've probably ridden it, my advice, buy the best kit you can afford, and go for training, BMW Academy at Zwartkops offer very good road courses, could save your life one day, and ride with the attitude that EVERYBODY out there is going to try and kill you.....from the pedestrian, every car on the road, trucks that will not see you......you will surprisingly find that taxis often give way to you, and quite a few other bikers on the road will greet, even if it's just a nod of the helmet.....welcome to the unspoken brotherhood....

Hay Man,

Hope you find the right bike for you man, but if I may add some stuff:

1. Don't worry about getting something TOO fast if your budget allows it, just use your brain when riding it. My 1st bike ever was my 2010 Hayabusa and everyone said I was mad, I just told them you can learn to drive in Ferrari too, it just doesn't mean your Shumi cause your in it. If you buy too small now you'll replace it too soon and would have wasted money so to speak.

2. I can't say this TOO often, ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME! Don't even go to get bread from the Cafe around the corner without being in FULL kit, 1 moron that hits you and it could be over.

If your looking for nice place to get good gear try CIT in hatfield. Nice variety, good prices. On the note of Helmelts, get something that is MotoGP or similar approved. If the Helmet doesn't say it is, don't buy it.

Also get GOOD insurance, one that understands biking. E.g. if you drop your helmet on the floor from a table height it needs to be replaced, get an insurer that understands this and is willing to cover this.

Other than that..... N-JOY!!!!!

(Now I miss my baby again )

Ps. I have a digital copy of one of the MUST READ books for any biker.
"Twist of the Wrist 2" by "Keith Code"

PM. me if you want a copy :)

For that price range I would go for the Suzuki SV 650 which is a great beginners bike.If you're a bit braver the SV 1000 would also be a good option for cruising longer distances.I'm currently into Motards so I build up a Suzuki DRZ 400 SM with Big bore kit and plenty mods. She has been serving me well for 2 and a halve years with no issues and has been great for everyday traffic around Town.I go through stages where I don't even touch my car for months. If you're planning to cruise long distances you should avoid bikes under 600 ccm.
Like some members have rightfully pointed out you can't trust anybody on the Road and your eyes and ears should be fully alert at all times.I also found that Taxis surprisingly make way quickly,I'm shure many of them have been exposed to some violence by Bikers and the word got around lol.Good luck with your search and take your time to get used to your new bike.

I had the Hyosung GT650R a few years ago.
It is quick! - similar concept as the SV650. V-Twin motor that'll do 1-100 in under 4 seconds. Taps out around 230 clockspeed if i remember correctly.

The new versions have FI - better than the carb units. The bike did well in the 2013 Bike of the Year finals.

I don't think you're bound to get more bang for your buck, in that price range.

Remember though, that it is not a tourer - the handle bars are low (more superbike like) so you're bound to take strain over long distances.

I once rode a Fireblade from Jhb to Dbn and back - most painful think i have ever done!

Hyosung also make a cruiser with the same displacement.

So it's fine for the quick sunday jaunt - but get a cruiser if you want to cruise
