Well, it seems the issues has been addressed now by the repair. I would recommend that you do extend plan however

ja i wouldnt own a F30 out of motorplan at all!

I can fully agree with this!

The cost of E9x and E8x car parts are more than enough to put you in some serious financial strain, F30 parts are quite a bit more especially big ticket items like turbos.

For instance a set of N54 turbos will only cost you around 14k as they can do an exchange for you. A friend of mine with an F30 340i inquired about the turbo replacement and the turbo alone is over 50k. LOL :thumbdo: So basically your looking at a +70k bill for BMW to replace that turbo for you due to labor and parts and sundries.

No thanks.

BMW doesn't want you to own these cars out of plan, they want you to buy it on residual and upgrade to the new model every 2 - 3 years, they make more money that way and keep the client for a lifetime.

On a more positive note. Its Friday and your car got fixed

Yep, car got fixed. Apparently they took the exhaust off, and refitted it. The car sounds completely different! Before in Sport mode it sounded very LOUD but not in a good sporty way. It just sounded loud and rough.

The whole engine just sounds much better and more refined. I guess that's the new turbo.

Edit : They also ordered a new battery that will be fitted on Monday. Then I'll see what the total damage was (if I wasn't in motor plan) and revert back with the total cost of repairs.

I'm chatting to a lady about their extended warranty plan (it is a third party plan, but sold by SMG). It costs R10K for 2 years of coverage and on most of the major essentials (like turbos, gaskets, pumps, etc) the cover is unlimited.

Think I better do that before my motor plan expires next month. :)

Which plan is that?

I have the SMG drive plan 2, and the turbo's are only covered to 12k, even on plan 1 the turbo's are only covered for 13k.

The plan cost me 14k for 2 years unlimited KM.

Glad car is sorted!

"Then I'll see what the total damage was (if I wasn't in motor plan)" MP repair costs does not equal out of MP costs.. Take it with a grain of salt

According to Lelani (at SMG) I'm covered. You can see it shows unlimited cover for Motor Drive 2 (which is what I'm going for).

Cost is R10K for 2 years.

They sold me some crappy plan then it seems :(

Probably because mine was out of motor-plan when I bought it.
