First Bmw

Hi, thank you for accepting me into the forum. Bought my first Bmw e30 318 two door a few days ago. Its only a rolling chassis for now but the body is straight and for now seems like it is rust free. Got a m50b25tu engine in with a ZF gearbox witch I understand is a good box.
No interior, but I will sort that when I finish everything else.
Plans, Fast street car, Looking at stroking the engine to a 2.8lt and then turbo it. Started looking for m52b28 crank, m20 conrods and will buy new m50b25 mahle pistons, arp bolts and cometic head gasket. Looking for around 1bar daily driver, dictator management.

I was looking into going the 3lt route, actually had everything lined up, crank, pistons and rods from a 2001 330i. Not sure if the pistons and rods will handle boost, a lot of guys on google says 600hp and a lot say nothing more than 0.5 bar boost. Will be using a holset super 40 with 14cm twin scroll housing and it does not make sense to me to pay R22000 for pistons and rods to handle 300-400hp.

Can I use the m54 crank with m20 rods and m50b25 pistons as my plan was for the m52 crank or will there be clearance issues. There is a lot of info on m50's running 52b28 crank, m20 rods and m50 pistons, compression 9:1

Makes sense. Glad to see you doing all the research.
Hope it goes well:thumbs:

You have pm,:smilebounce:

Hi, I will start a build thread the moment I start working on the bmw. For now it's all research and planning. Anyone on here ever use superboss 86mm pistons in a m50 bock, is it a good idea to machine it out so much? My line of thought is that if it can take 86mm superboss pistons safely, I can use Opel Ts pistons which are exactly the same only for boosted applications. Any advice on this, anyone done the 86mm way before.
