I was shocked to see all the coking products in head....is that normal? I have never heard about that in Germany....

Is that happening with the N55 only or is the 54 also affected?

How do you get it so nice and clean?

Visually and quantity wise the N54 is more affected than the N55 although the 55 shows similar gains regardless of the way the build up looks.

Mr GS

Great job and fantastic feedback from Firoze.

How do I know when to go for carbon clean? And how often?

And the N54 ?

From 40,000km.

Thanks for that information!

That would mean every 40.000km?
What are the costs to check and clean if necessary? I think you might use an endocope to check don't you?

The 40,000km is not a norm but I wouldn't do a car with lower than that unless it had blown the turbos in the past. Once the car is cleaned the owner is aware of how the car should feel and its his call when he feels it has become bad enough for a second clean.
The clean is necessary if the car has done the mileage though. We have done enough cars by now not to expect a miracle and find the valves clean. Labour wise its not worth the effort to do the inspection and we do turn away cars that want to come too soon.
The cost on the N54 is R3000 and includes new manifold gaskets.

Mine is having 80.000km now but I have no exact impression how it should go...

So you dismantle the intake?

The car is disassembled till the head is exposed. The throttle body and intake assembly gets removed and then the ports are exposed. Its nothing major.
