So I dropped of the power monster on Friday and collected me 325i. The comfort level is a lot better then the ST, the drive quality is about the same but the 325i has a m-sport suspension plus 19" rims with almost no tyre's lol.

The performance is a bit crap. I didn't think I'll miss it that much but it's a bit late now :)

But all and all, the car is really nice. Will be posting something in the forum now. I have some questions for the more advanced BMW owners :D

One does not simply say "The performance of a BMW is a bit crap" on a BMW forum... :nonono: :tease:
Congrats on your purchase
Performance wise, you should've gone 330i/d or 335i.
You can't compare the ST to a 325i in performance.

Welcome to the forum.

The 325i is a lovely daily drive, its got enough power to be enjoyable but not quite enough to match an ST - And we all know there is no such thing as standard ST.

If I may, why did you trade in a 2.5T for a 2.5?

@NavZ - Well I'm a BMW owner now so I can actually say what I want hehe

@MiniMike - Well if I compare a Stock ST to Stock 325 then it's really close. The ST should pull away a bit but not that much. Problem is, You don't get a Stock ST hahaha. I was Stage 2 (just needed a Stage 3 map) but the reason I traded was because the build quality is better on a BMW. Rattles really annoy me and a ST does have several after a while. I test drove a 320d and 330d. Performance is good but the sound isn't lol. the 330i was just over my budget. All the 330i I could buy was just out of motor-plan or almost out of it. And after the ST I told myself I want a car with a motor-plan :)

Edit: Oh and I needed a car that was a bit bigger and the BMW was the only car really worth getting. Pram didn't fit that good into the ST

@Petri - tx :) Ag just meant more experience owners :praise:

I think the biggest thing with shifting from a car like the ST to a NA 325i is the difference in the way it drives.

The ST probably feels more responsive with the turbo, the 325i is more linear and whilst it feels slower its not by that much.

A bit like driving the supercharged R53 MINI Cooper S and the turbo R56 Cooper S, only a half a second between them but the R56 feels lightening fast.

@Ricky - Yea Ok bad wording there :) It's now slow but like Mini said, it feels.

@Mini - Yea I have to say that I did notice I really have to push the rpm's high to get some performance. Where the ST was boosting 1.2 at 2500rpm's already. I don't think Stock vs stock there's a big gap.

I also think a filter (No idea what crazy bmw will charge me for this) will help a bit and a exhaust will help as well. Not really in performance but spoofing my brain into thinking the car is faster now hahahaha... Just a pity it's so expensive at bmw (Can I fit a K&N and just remove it when the car has to go for a service or will they detect this with a diagnostics?)

I also think the previous owner did make the car a bit lazy so hoping it will get a bit better. I just came from Heidelberg and did 120km/h with cruise control and then I wanted to see what it can do. Kinda struggled getting up to 160. From 160 - 200 was kinda faster but don't know why. Also don't know why the car has a 5th and 6th gear lol

Eish! Should've bought a 330d/335i. I made a similar mistake; sold an 8P S3 and bought an E90 325i :flyfun:
Traded in the 325i for a 330d 2 months later :blab:

Anyway, welcome. Don't let that buyers remorse kill you :=):

don't like a diesel :)

Well will keep it now, did buy it so haha... The 335 was outta my price range and didn't wanna sit with all the issues on the ST for another year. So rather drive a slower car for 2 years then a issue car for a year :)
