Hi Guys,
New to the forum and the brand, and loving it.
Coming from a long line of Jap cars I finally pulled the trigger and got myself a 2008 530d LCI, no more almost redlining up a hill in 3rd gear just to keep speed limit!
I'm a paraplegic driver and now comes another challenge... I'm currently using my portable set of hand controls but need to fit permanent ones asap. I have the old set of mechanical controls from my previous car, but since this car is drive-by-wire I have come up with an alternative, so would appreciate some input please.
I'm thinking of getting another accelerator pedal module for the model of the car and reverse engineering a thumb-style throttle which I could fix to the handle of new controls, the only problems I can think of are firstly whether this would even work given the electronics might not like it, and secondly even the scrapyards want an whack of cash for the units, which I can't justify for something which is for now at best an experiment...
I've read of folks breaking their pedals where the physical pedal meets the top of the sensor rod, so there must be those to find somewhere? If anyone could point me in the right direction please, I'm all ears.
Question, does the tingling feeling I get when climbing in and starting it go away over time??
(Having issues with chucking up pics at the moment)
