Feeler for show & shine even at car show

Hi Guys

We have been approached by an events planer for a motor show next year. They are looking to host a show and shine event. There will be various sponsors for prizes, and best of all car care products! They would like to put feelers out to gauge the amount of interest in such an event. The idea is to distribute car care products from a sponsor so you can detail your car (maybe a week or two before the event). This will be a full kit, from wash to wax etc. Your car will then be entered the following week at the show where you stand a chance to win prizes to the value of around R5k

The conditions:
1.) If you enter, your car will be part of the display. Which means leaving it there on the Friday till Sunday.
2.) The cost will be around R150, but if you car is part of the display you will get an exhibitors pass which means you can come and go as you please. (Entrance to the show will be around that price anyway.)

Keep in mind:
There will be other show cars that will be at the stand so there will be security. I suggested that the cars be "rope protected" to keep the public from touching the cars. :yuck:

I'm keen to hear your thoughts on entering such an event. Please respond with your concerns and suggestions and I will pass this on.

This is just a feeler and judging from the responses this section of the show will either happen or be canned.

And Jacques, I share your sentiments, I would not be a fan of this either. My car is my daily so not having a car for the weekend would be an inconvenience. Guys with show cars or weekend cars would be more suited for this event.

There will be a few classics and exotics on the stand so security will definitely be tight.

Please give your input even if you will not be attending the show. I need as much feedback as possible.

I think it's a cool idea..could even get car care product manufacturers involved..maybe displays where they can show peepz how to use their products proply and have cars that you can compare what the products finish is like and compare to others..like the home show they do at gallagher estate..maybe even a daily detailing class which you pay for above the entrance..could even involve car accessory guys..marketing would be a mission tho if it goes too big

This is a car show on a big scale, the show and shine is something that the organisers are thinking of adding to the already annual event. Think Nasrec, Dome ...etc.
So yeah liability insurance is a definite

The idea of the "Detailing section" is to create a bit of buzz around detailing. It will be sponsored by one of our suppliers so they will kind of have the rule over this section. They would like Crazydetailer to be part of this section as well as their other close partners like Sportec, or Big Boss etc. There will be other detailing stands from other suppliers, but they will not form part of the "Detailing section"

The thought is to have a bit of a lounge area, maybe a bar or coffee bar where detailing lunatics can be cornered off and chat about detailing. If this takes off, Crazydetailer will invite our affiliated detailers to be a part of it as well.
