Fan Blades - 328 E36

This is strange to me. This morning, on my way to work I had "washing my car in mind" I gave the security guard the job as I was to busy. When I pulled the car under the shed to dry I noticed a sound coming from the motor. Later the Security guard came walking in with 3 broke off fan blades. I went to check and had no idea how that happened. Nothing in the way. Now the motor is wobbly because of the imbalanced fan. Any ideas? Old age Perhaps?

Is this the fan with the hard plastic blades ? 11 blades on a three bolt visco . I had the same problem and fitted a soft plastic fan . IMHO the hard one seems to get brittle , once one breaks the others follow suit due to similar condition and the vibration now makes them break off .

Thanks Guys. You all make good sense as always. At first it was difficult to detect wtf....? :=): , Drove her home at 40-50k/h. not far. Will check it out in the week.:thumbs:
