F90 M5 Nurburgring

So someone finally took the F90 M5 for a timed lap around the Nurburgring. Something a lot of people have been waiting for.

I wonder if BMW themselves will try improve on it..:cartel:

Not bad time. The M4 GTS does the ring in 7:27. I am sure a proper BMW race driver will be sent out to do it

That’s a remarkable time for an almost 2 ton, non track focused car.
The standard M4 did 7:52 and the M3 CSL did 7:50.

Can’t wait to see what a BMW driver does with the M5 Competition.:tiptoe:

That means the M5 nearly matches the Porsche Panamera Turbo's 7:38 lap, which was set by a factory driver. It also represents a 16-second improvement over the previous-generation M5.

For an even more fun, if not very useful comparison, we turn to Sport Auto's test of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia from 2008. The German magazine managed a 7:39 in that car, which shows just how much progress we've made in the performance-car world over the last 10 years. Don't forget, the 430 Scuderia was a track-focused monster that represented the best of Ferrari engineering in its day. The M5 is a luxury sedan.

Its amazing how much progress has been made on modern cars. We dont realise it coz we compare them to other modern cars. Just compare them to cars a few years back and you'll be shocked.
