F8X M3 CAR MAGAZINE JUNE EDITION

Ok so I just received the June edition of Car magazine in the post today only to be greeted by the forthcoming F8x M3, (as well as the Mk7 Gti, no interest at all to me as it looks very similar to the outgoing model)

I was :joy: at first but to my further inspection of the car in the mag and cover, i discovered that the car used is just a CGI and it the same image that's doing its rounds on the web. Come on are they for real?

Any-ways its pretty much an e92 M3 with new the new F30 headlights, slightly changed bonnet and bumper, 1M style rear diffuser and rides on the GTS/Competition pack wheels. Basically it should be good for just an update on the current model and not for a totally new car.

Now I can't scan the two page article or type it out, it will be plagiarism after all. But i'll just give you guys a quick breakdown on it and categorise it.

*BMW will restore six cylinders and the car will be lighter, more rigid and packed with new tech

Engine

*BMW won't let out any info, hints or tips on the new engine.
*Therefore Car magazine has an insider who divulged some info to them
* Definitely a six cylinder
*Highly advanced 3.0-litre V6 with twin turbos
*Both the twin-scroll turbos will be mounted within the V of the engine
*Won't simply be a cut down version of the 4.4 Litre V8
*New turbo placement helps with better throttle response and heat build up.

Performance

*Around 320Kw & 550N.m
*Car magazine says it should be enough to see off the next C63 & RS4 (I don't think so)
*Direct injection as well as a higher compression ratio will add to the 70Kw/50N.m advantage over the 1M
*Low 4sec 0-100

Chassis

*Mass reduction is going to be on a whole new level with this car but will only come later in the cars life cycle
*Carbon honeycomb bonnet
*Titanium mufflers
*Carbon composite panels
*Aluminium wiring will replace the normal copper used
*Carbon ceramic disks and aluminium callipers
*75kg less than e9x M3
*6 speed manual and revised & 7speed M-DCT box
*Revised e9x dampers and M diff

So there you have it. True or not lets hope its true but with much more fire power under its belt. I'm thinking in the lines of around 350Kw? Also the sedan version will be launched before the coupe this time round.

Hmmm , that engine doesn't sound spectacular , sure they might be a x35i that can match those specs ? Though the rest of it sounds promising

Hmm, that sounds a bit weird. Will check a bit later which has lower resistance per mass.

Guess they have used all the optics they can as well

Ive actually seem this in an Audi wiring harness before. The battery cables werer aluminium. Quite abit thicker, but lighter. There was another reason why they used it which I cant remember now. This was like 4 years ago.

Do you guys remember when the E92 M3 was released? And pretty much EVERY initial review was 'disappointed'. It wasn't that much faster. It wasn't as communicative blah blah blah.

But then a year or so passed, and the e92 then emerged as the clear class leader in pretty much every review.

Long story short, try to manage expectations. I have a feeling the exact same thing is going ot happen with this M3. People will have wildly unrealistic expectations, throw their toys when its released, only then to settle down and see things for what they actually are.

If the car doesn't have 350kw you can be damn sure theres a good reason for it. Maybe power-to-weight, or better balance, or something else. But I highly doubt that the M Division aren't aware of the competition.

Well the guys from BMW M division did say that its much better than the e92 in its current form of development.

Well the C63 wil have Mercedes 4.7 V8 Twin Turbo soon.... so the competition is there....
Once again Merc will have the power advantage..... but will probably lose every where else...

Less weight with more power is always a good start, lets wait to see the real-deal Holyfield when it is released!

wiki with the answers, but you are right.

Other reason might be that aluminium doesnt oxide as much...only the outside layer
