Interesting. I though the F30 was lighter than the E90.

Anyway, if you stand along the rear door of the F30, it has a surprising similar profile to the E90.

The F30 appears a lot wider & lower from the rear even though I know it is taller & in fact, bigger in (almost?) every aspect.

They saved the 20kg's from the interior trim.:yuck:

This morning's drop off from the dealership showed the plastic dash and door trim compared to the actual aluminium trim I have in my E90. Also other bits and bobs that look suspect as far as materials go. This was however the base model 320D F30.

This will probably offend many, but the quality of the interior has gone down AFAIC.

This drop in quality started with the change from pre-lci to lci already.
As for the aluminium, you can't judge that based on a base model.
The E90 also has a silver plastic option for trim.

Ive experienced both, cant say I agree, quality is the same to me. Previous car was a 2006 323i Exclusive.

If you look at the history of the 3 series design, the E36 was a complete re-design over the E30, same for the E46 over the E36, E90 over the E46.

I think BMW got a bit lazy when it came to the F30

F30 in sport trim is better quality inside than my E90 by far!

In that case...sport trim FTW!
The interior i saw today was really sad...
And i do agree, they seem to have gotten lazy...
