F30 towbar... WTF?

I got my new 320d about 3 months ago and didn't take the factory fit towbar.

The other day I called my selling dealer to ask about recommended towbars and they said I must buy from a dealer or it invalidates the Motorplan. I was then put through to parts where I was told the towbar costs R11,800.

Am I being wool-eye-pulled or is this seriaaas?

Seems a bit high. One question do you have a harness that supports the towbar underneath the car at the back. Please check, this. If there is not harness prep you will jeed a complete harness rewire.

When spec from new the electric one is 10k , the f30 has got tow bar prep , something doesn't should right. Check with different dealer:thumbdo:

I can believe that price

When I bought my e90 I wanted the new 5series Sportpack wheel and I bravely said that they can just add it to the purchase price.. They quote me 6k per wheel:fencelook: without tyres.

Good luck bud

Price sounds about right, regardless of how ridiculous it is.

A new E90 towbar now is around R8500 :fencelook:

Yep that price is correct. Costs more to buy separately than when ordering new with the car. DPpk is right, it is a 10k option when you ordering.

I got a quote for my E90 - electric one quoted at R10k and manual at R7k. Then there was the one where you press a button in the luggage compartment to pop it out - R15k. I'm sure there will be options like this offered by BMW for the F30.

Just phone Motorplan (BMW SA) - there may be an approved place which fits towbars approved for the F30.
