Hi Guys

Not sure if this topic has been raised before and apologies if it has.
I recently had taken to My F30 320i in to BMW for some unscheduled maintenance, is this time they had given me a loan car (brand new 320i base) and i noticed that the iDrive system's software was slightly different to mine (a lot cooler :=)::=): ) was able to view album art of music playing as well as play music from my phone via Bluetooth along with a lot of other nice to have's :=): BMW advised that they updated software in my car to latest version but after playing around it looks pretty my the same as before :yuck:. So not being convinced i down loaded the software myself http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/navigation/bluetooth/bluetooth_software_update_vin.jsp and attempted a install with system confirming software up to date.
Could this batch of car not be compatible with latest software (The cool 1)? as Vin is entered on website to download update - i would fail to see why it would incompatible.

Anyways i knw im prob being over the top but i thought i'd pose the "issue" never the less.

Thanks:thumbs:

Yeah base is miserable.

Just lets the bmw marque down.

I presume u had a loan car with the media interface.

If u have vin of that car u cud research it and compare.to yours.

Keen to know difference.

Hi there,

Not sure on this, but gonna suggest just in case.

In your car, do you have Connectivity, Bluetooth and USB devices installed? 6NK ?

I have this in mine and that allows you to show album art info when playing music if the tracks have the art embedded in the music file.

It could be that the "base model" loaned to you have this add-on installed.

When shopping for my car, I found that you can hardly buy a true base model from the floor. They normally have some soft of ad-on added to the car, which they believe would help selling the car later.

Just a thought from my side, might be barking up the wrong tree.

Cheers

Hmmm ok .. I think my best option is just to find out exactly what the loan car had...

Thanks
