The best of both worlds - conveniently control the iPod functions of your iPhone using the iDrive Controller of your new BMW 3 Series Sedan while the familiar Apple interface appears on the vehicle’s main display.

Your iPhone keeps you permanently up to date – and of course this applies when you use it in your BMW as well. PlugIn provides you with direct access to all menu items without any major changes. You can also use it to access the extended audio player functions, such as listening to Genius Mixes. In addition, you can show iPhone videos on the Control Display of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan.

Is that if you the communications package or what ever it's called?

I don't know. I'm not sure if it's tied in to the bluetooth, the USB Connection to that extra accessory called the extended connection
