F30 MFID retrofit

Hi guys

I just bought a 2019 F30 runout. Super car, I'm really enjoying it.

Initially was looking for a 3 series with the MFID mulitfunctional instrument display already fitted, but that was a challenge.

Now that I have the car, with a full 24 month warranty, can you advise on the info display upgrade.

- Where could I source this MFID in Johannesburg, and get the coding done. I think it is a simple change, that takes only 15mins.

- Could I get this done by a manufacturer-approved workshop, that BMW dealership will acknowledge and accept - to ensure that my Motorplan/warranty is not cancelled.

- Should I get this upgrade on a new car? The digital display looks awesome and mod, not to mention with a digital speedometer on sport mode.

Thanks

Congrats on the purchase bud. Many happy miles ahead of you!

As far as I know, there's no workshop apart from the BMW workshops that should tinker with your car if the Motor Plan is to stay in place. They would also require you to purchase from BMW - Can be another branch but you'll probably need a receipt. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Thanks TS_ that's what I read on the T&Cs as well regarding MP. Pity...

Sweet ride man. Really like the M performance kit. I see you did a performance upgrade. I'm still figuring out the increase in fuel consumption in sport mode.

No stress. Have a look at your PM though. Maybe that can work out out for you.

Thanks. M performance looks great. I'd love something more unique though. Only time will tell. Haha. Yeah, it's quite a leap betwwen the modes. Even more now with the tune.

My understanding is that this can be fitted as an official retrofit by bmw. Then there are no warranty issues. Obviously just very costly.

Hey 123Dan

I'm referring to the Digital dash instrument cluster, not the retrofit HUD.

Here's an official response from a parts manager at one of the BMW dealerships.

1. There is no retrofit from BMW for this so it will have to be done with parts from other vehicles.

2. The clusters is Coded according to VIN at BMW so when they arrive here they are already coded.

3. We will be unable to program this because the vehicle will know it did not come out with this cluster and fail programming.

4. Reason why they can do it like on the forums is by using one from a written off vehicle which is fine however we have motor plan and they dont.
