discussion F30 Diff repair places

Hi Guys, My f30 diff is making a whining noise when accelerating. If you leave the gas pedal its quiet. It only whines/hums on accelerations. So based on that, I've ruled out wheel bearing and tyres.

I called 2 places to recon the diff. Ie new bearings and seals.
1. popular BMW repair place in Midrand quoted 18k
2. A gearbox and diff repair place in edenvale quoted 14k.

Is there any places locally that supply the repair kit? Then I can DIY it. Ill have to buy a dial guage as well to measure the backlash.
Or is there any other places in jhb that are reasonably priced that I can try?

Have you tried Mayfair gearbox and diff..
They have a couple of branches.

I am aware that these diffs can be rebuilt, when I made the inquiry by a few guys all of them said there are no replacement parts for these diffs and then complete replacement was probebly the easiest option. At first I thought it was my tyres and I continued to drive with it like that cos I still had some life left in those tyres so I drove it for another 6 months thinking that after I change the tyres the problem should be sorted, turns out I was wrong cos even after changing tyres my car was starting to sound like a boeing 747 on take off.

Also following this, My diff is humming like a jet as well... was thinking of a service but very doubtful that will fix the issue..
