I then found this thread and then called JSN. Piet knew what to do and booked my car in. He said he could either replace the gloss black beading with something else or do the matte paint trick, as explained earlier in this thread. I opted for the latter. Will report back next week.

Sandton Auto is replacing the trims with revised versions, the front of the trim is gloss and the back of the trim is Matt. Let us know how it goes...MR_Y said:Hi Guys, so this issue popped up on my car after 1,000km. Coming from Audi for almost 8 years, I was like 'WTF BMW, is your build quality so crap?'

Hi Matt, Do you still have contact? I have the same issue on F30 ..First the black trim needs to be taken off. It is this trim and the velvet seal at the top of the window that rub and make the creaking sound. Tony strips the black beading off and has the hidden portion that is hidden by the seal sprayed with a faint matte finish and then reinstalls the trim. Annoying sound gone and Barkley noticeable change on the heading when the doors are open.

The last pic is just of the felt part right at the top. The 2 materials are not compatible and that is why they spray that slight matte finish as per first picture
