F30 Creaking Window lining

My 330d has creaky noises when going over uneven surfaces or bends. It sounds like the window rubber lining. Starting to drive me nuts.

Hi

Its the rubber seal between the door frame and car body. Spray it with silicone spray to prevent thd creaking noises

Go to northcliff auto. They have a permanent fix. Ask for Tony. He did my 330d and no more creaking.

Ah, thanks man! I've also noticed the creaking sound on my 330d... Its rather annoying given there's no other cabin noises!!

Eish it looks like a common problem because I also got the same issue

Mattks, any idea if the car has to be booked in or can I just rock up there?

First the black trim needs to be taken off. It is this trim and the velvet seal at the top of the window that rub and make the creaking sound. Tony strips the black beading off and has the hidden portion that is hidden by the seal sprayed with a faint matte finish and then reinstalls the trim. Annoying sound gone and Barkley noticeable change on the heading when the doors are open.

The last pic is just of the felt part right at the top. The 2 materials are not compatible and that is why they spray that slight matte finish as per first picture

You can clean the beading and that top strip on the door. Will quieten down for a day or 2

Had the tape done and I have cleaned the seal on the felt side with nothing but water. It's dead quiet. Seems to affect only the cars with the gloss trim.

Got the same problem on my e92. Pretty bad of BMW not have fixed the problem on the f series. Thanks for the info, will try the fix. Been driving with the window down to avoid the sound

Bumping this as it's similar to two new threads. I also have this issue. Tried some aerospace 303 but it didn't help.

I notice this is more of a problem when it gets drier here in JHB.
I use Würth Gummipflege in a can every 3 months or so, wipe the rubber clean, spray a coat on, a little goes a long way and it's sorted.
The can is about R80 bucks and Würth are in Randburg on Malibongwe.

Let me know if this works for you guys.

Hi Guys, so this issue popped up on my car after 1,000km. Coming from Audi for almost 8 years, I was like 'WTF BMW, is your build quality so crap?'
I then found this thread and then called JSN. Piet knew what to do and booked my car in. He said he could either replace the gloss black beading with something else or do the matte paint trick, as explained earlier in this thread. I opted for the latter. Will report back next week.

My Audi creaks like how the F30 above was described. Still within plan and approx 90k km. Its creaked ever since 40k Km.. Still no fix. If it goes in to the dealer - it comes back fine for a day or two and then the creaks are back. Tired of sending it in for the same issue and been told now that this is a 'common' issue.. Yay :hammerhead:

Sandton Auto is replacing the trims with revised versions, the front of the trim is gloss and the back of the trim is Matt. Let us know how it goes...
