F30 cigarette lighter

Hi guys. I have just purchased a 2013 f30 320 M Sport. I noticed that the cigarette lighter next to the cup holders have constant power, also when the key is off. The other cigarette 12v outlet is empty, found under the glove box. Is this normal? I am looking for an alternative power source for my dash cam. Can someone assist me.

My father's 2014 328i as well as my 2011 330d both have the 12V socket under the cubbyhole.:coolShake:

Just checked my car and there is just a hole, I was not aware that there was even a socket there.. Never checked any of my previous cars either... But that gives me an idea.. There must be 12v power there, the wires are most likely there.. Hmm

Interesting, apparently it comes with the storage kit, which my car has (I think)..

On a different point, the front lighter plug and the rear's fuses are either one in the boot or the bonnet. I never even knew there was a fusebox in the bonnet.

Well I'm resurrecting the thread, I also realized that the passenger footwell has an Emory hole so here's what i did. I changed my center console cup holder part to the lci one, (oem one from a facelift), mainly because of the sliding lid. I then removed the 12v socket from my old trim and fitted it on the empty allocated hole on the passenger footwell. The next step is to get some power to it, i might do that from center console socket wiring but of course i have to be cautious not to overload them both at once.

All this will be for a short term, the plan is to hard-wire the dash cam to fuse box using the right wiring. Then convert the center console socket to a fast charge dual usb.
