F30 blowing white smoke

Hi, I'm a newbie to forums. I have a 2013 F30 3 series N13 which started smoking (cloud of white smoke) and gave a "Drive Train" error (the car is out of motor plan). Smoking on idle and worse on revs.

So the mechanic said it was the turbo so he pulled it out and got it recond. However the problem didn't go away, the car continued to smoke and this time it was worse. Oil even sipped into the exhaust tailpipe.

So I have recently replaced the reconditioned turbo with a new one but still continues to smoke (car still smokes but not as bad and this time its on revs).

Could this still be the turbo or is this valve stem seals or something else?

define smoke...

a little bit of smoke, or enough to fill the garage in under 2 minutes ? meaning how much oil is being pumped into the exhaust..

Valve stem seals.

How much did you drive the car after the turbo was reconditioned? It takes about 100km or so of driving to burn out the residual oil in the exhaust

Hi, the smoke fills up the garage in 10 mins or so.

After the new installation it gave smoke for 2 mins or so the stopped. No smoke for at least 10 mins then thought of driving up the road to get a beer then the smoke started as I drove up the road. I must say, the smoke is not as worse as before.

That sounds like residual oil burning off. When I redid my turbo the smoke stopped after 200km of driving

correct...

the turbo could easily drop 5l of oil in the exhaust when it popped.
and the residue gets stuck in the cats ect...

@Zaleonardz @Waseem

Update, it turns out it was the residue oil. You were both right. Thanks you very much guys. I almost took it in for the head gasket. However, I will keep monitoring it for the next couple of days.
